The rules that keep Shaglee worth coming back to
Random video chat only works when people treat each other decently. These are the rules that keep it that way — short, plain, and actually enforced.
The short version
If you only remember three things from these video chat community guidelines, make it these: be kind, respect a no the first time you hear it, and never harass anyone. Everything else on this page is just those three ideas with the details filled in.
These video chat rules are not here to lecture you — most people on Shaglee never need them. They exist so the small number who ruin things for everyone else get removed quickly, and so the rest of us know exactly where the lines are. Pair them with the habits on our video chat safety tips page and you are set for the kind of chats that make random video fun in the first place.
What's not okay here
Some behavior gets you removed, full stop — and for the worst of it, there are no second chances. Here is where the hard lines sit:
- Hate and harassment. Slurs, targeted abuse, mocking someone's race, religion, gender, or sexuality — none of it is "just joking" here.
- Sexual pressure and unwanted explicit content. Do not expose yourself to strangers, and do not push anyone to show or do more than they offer. A no is a complete sentence.
- Scams and money requests. Asking matches for money, gift cards, or "emergency" help is a scam even when the story sounds good. Doing it gets you banned; seeing it should get reported.
- Threats and blackmail. Threatening someone — including threatening to share recordings of a chat — is among the fastest ways to lose your account permanently.
- Minors. Shaglee is only for people 18 and older. If someone you match with appears to be underage, do not engage — end the chat and report them immediately so the account can be reviewed.
- Anything illegal. If it would be a crime offline, it is not welcome on camera either.
The spirit matters more than the letter here. If you are working hard to find a loophole in this list, you have already told us what kind of user you are.
How reporting and blocking work
Both tools are one tap, and you should use them without hesitation. Blocking is instant and personal: the person cannot match with you again, and they are never told who blocked them. Reporting goes further — it flags the behavior for our review team so the account itself gets looked at.
A good report takes ten extra seconds. Add one sentence about what happened — "asked me for gift cards" or "looked underage" tells the reviewer exactly what to look for. Vague reports still count, but specific ones move faster.
Reporting in good faith never gets you in trouble, even if the review ends in "no violation." We would always rather check a hundred false alarms than miss one real problem. For anything involving money, threats, or minors, also email the details to us via the Shaglee support contact page so it reaches a human directly.
One distinction worth making: annoying is not the same as against the rules. A match who is boring, awkward, or just not your person is what the skip button is for. Save reports for behavior that actually crosses the lines above — that keeps the review queue fast for the cases that matter.
What happens when someone breaks the rules
Consequences scale with what actually happened. A first minor slip — an awkward joke that crossed into rudeness, say — might earn a warning. Repeated or more serious behavior leads to restricted access or a temporary suspension. The severe stuff goes straight to a permanent ban, no warm-up acts.
What counts as severe? Threats, blackmail, scams, hate-driven abuse, and anything involving minors. Those accounts do not get a learning curve, and we do not apologize for that. One banned scammer is worth more than a hundred warnings they would have ignored.
Reviews are done by people, and people can get it wrong — if you believe action against your account was a mistake, write to us and make your case. The legal backbone for all of this lives in the terms of service, which you agreed to when you started using Shaglee.
Why we bother
Because the alternative is a ghost town. Every random chat site that stopped caring about report and block tools turned into the same thing — bots, scammers, and nobody worth talking to. The rules above are what keep Shaglee a place where a random match is still worth the tap.
So thanks for reading this far — genuinely. The people who read the rules are almost never the ones who break them, which means you are exactly who we built this place for. Now go meet someone interesting.
