Why Shaglee exists
Meeting someone new used to take a tap, not a campaign. We built Shaglee to bring that back — here is who we are and what we believe.
Why we built Shaglee
Picture a Tuesday night. You are not looking for a soulmate or a networking contact — you just want to talk to another human for a while. So you open a dating app, and forty minutes later you have swiped past two hundred faces, matched with three people, and had one conversation that died at "hey." You close the app feeling like you did paperwork.
That feeling is why Shaglee exists. Somewhere along the way, meeting people online stopped being about meeting people. It became profiles to polish, openers to craft, feeds designed to keep you scrolling instead of talking. The apps are not broken — they are working exactly as designed, just not for you.
We wanted the opposite of that. A place where the distance between "I feel like talking to someone" and actually doing it is measured in seconds, not evenings of profile maintenance. So we built Shaglee: a free-to-start random video chat where you tap once and a real person is looking back at you. No profile, no bio, no sign-up to try.
What we believe
Meeting people should be instant. The best conversations we have ever had with strangers started with zero preparation — a shared train car, a long line, a seat next to someone at a bar. The internet should be able to give you that on demand, and on Shaglee's random video chat it does.
Meeting people should be face to face. Text lets everyone perform a version of themselves. A live face is harder to fake and easier to read — you know within seconds whether there is anything there, which is why we skipped profiles entirely and went straight to video.
And meeting people should be low-stakes. If a chat is not working, you tap once and you are gone — no ghosting guilt, no awkward exit speech, no explanation owed. We think the freedom to leave easily is what makes people brave enough to say hello in the first place. The details live on how it works, but the idea fits in one sentence: tap, meet, stay or skip.
One more belief, maybe the one that started it all: a conversation with a stranger is not a problem to be optimized. It is one of the oldest pleasures there is, and the internet spent years burying it under feeds and funnels. Our job, as we see it, is to dig it back out and keep it simple — one tap, one face, one real moment at a time.
How we think about safety
Random means unpredictable, and we do not paper over that. You are meeting real strangers, and no platform — ours included — can promise every single one behaves. What a platform can do is make the tools fast and the rules clear, and that is where we put the work.
Block and report are one tap from any chat, blocking is permanent and needs no justification, and reports go to a review queue staffed by real people. The community guidelines spell out what is not welcome here, and our safety page is written like advice to a friend, not a legal disclaimer — what to share, what to never share, and what to do the moment a chat feels off.
We would rather you skip ten good chats on a hunch than sit through one bad one. The exit is always yours, and it is always instant.
How we make money
Coins, stated plainly. Shaglee is free to start — your first matches are free and there is no sign-up to try, so you can test the whole experience before spending anything. If you decide you want longer or premium sessions, coins are how you pay for that, and you always see the price before you spend.
That is the entire model. We do not sell ads against your data, we do not sell profiles, and nothing renews quietly in the background. The free video chat experience is genuinely free to try, because we think you should never have to buy a mystery. If Shaglee is not for you, the most you have lost is a few minutes.
Where we're going
We are still a small team, and we like it that way — it keeps us close to the people actually using the product. What we are working on is less about adding features and more about protecting the core feeling: fast matching, real faces, rooms that stay private, and moderation that stays awake as we grow.
If something on Shaglee ever feels off — a bug, a bad actor, a feature you wish existed — tell us. The contact page reaches actual humans, and user reports shape what we fix next more than any roadmap document does.
Thanks for reading this far. The short version: we built the thing we wanted to use on that Tuesday night — open it, tap once, and there is a person. We hope it gives you a few conversations worth remembering.
